Peer Mentor Shoot
December is a busy month for all of us with shopping and partying and having time to be with family. That makes December a tough month for our Peer Mentor Program to squeeze in a photo shoot and a critique meeting. But given that we have more than 20 peer mentors now I am confident we can get a group together for the Saturday December 9th photo shoot and the Wednesday December 13th peer mentor critique meeting.
I will be leaving to visit my family in the Midwest tomorrow and won’t return until just before the photo shoot so I am going to leave it to you-all to set up the place/time for the photo shoot. I would really appreciate it if the group replied to all and decided on a place for the photo shoot. I assume there will be plenty of snow in the Jackson Hole by 12/9 so talk together about a nice place for a photo shoot and keep the conversation going in the next two weeks.
I mentioned last meeting that I think it is time for us to talk about how we have improved as photographers. I would like to suggest that we have IMPROVEMENT as our theme for our Wednesday December 13th meeting. We can start the meeting with a discussion about what have been the most important factors in our improvement. And for homework I would like you to go back a year or two and look at your past photo images to see what you have improved upon over a year or two years since you got involved in the peer mentor program. As your homework (and this will be difficult) I would like you to choose a pair of photographs (one from the last few months and one from a year or two ago) that shows how you have changed. A really good example (but I suspect it will be difficult to find) is a pair of images from approximately the same place that show the most important change in your photography. I know that is a challenge but I bet some of you can find a really good pair that will help all of us discuss what helps amateur photographers to improve their photographic skills and eye.
Note – The shoot address is just a placeholder!! Refer to the group’s FB page for the correction location.
