Grand Teton National Park: Info & Photo

The “New” Best of the Tetons Site! (Click Here)

Most of the “best” content from this site is now at a new page on one of my current active sites. The pages have a newer look, have less text, and have more photos and galleries. I believe you will like it! If there is a takeaway, I’d suggest creating a new bookmark or favorites for the new page.

I also created a new section to showcase some of the subjects I find here in Colorado. I add to that section as I can find time. Check it out!

Note: This site, Best of the Tetons, is gradually being “morphed” to a new section on my hub site at Golden Studios

Golden Studios was my original web site, created around 1995. Golden Studios now serves as the hub that links our various artistic endeavors. You can always get to the two sections above by going to Golden Studios.

Mike Jackson Photography!

Back in July of 2022, Darla and I sold our house in Jackson Hole.  We found a nice new home and moved to Loveland, CO. Without being in the Tetons, I couldn’t continue posting to the site daily as I had done for many years. After moving to Loveland, CO, I dusted off another old site at Mike Jackson Photography, It is now my active site featuring my most current photography. It is similar in many ways to the old Best of the Tetons. After over a year, the Mike Jackson Photography site is actually getting quite robust  (currently around 3000 photos).  Note: In Loveland, I don’t post a Daily Journal, nor do I offer photography tours.

Remember: At some point in the not-to-distant future, this site will disappear!

I’ve left Best of the Tetons up for more than a year, but it time to move on to newer and better sites.

Thanks so much for your readership and support! See you at my new sites! Mike & Darla Jackson.

Grand Teton Foliage Reports

GTNP Foliage Reports

If you are already visiting the new Best of the Tetons section on my new site, you probably already know about a Foliage Reports post I made there.  The section was uploaded specifically for GTNP visitors.

GTNP Foliage Reports

Each year, the foliage can vary by a few days in either direction of what I might call “average”. For example, Oxbow Bend often goes “peak” on October 1st and can be good for several days. Many out of state “photo tours” schedule around that date, but a few years ago, it happened in the third week of September. The tour companies were looking at Oxbow with bare leaves. But, there’s really never a guarantee…only averages. I created the page linked above using mostly information from my 2021 Foliage Report. It should give you a good idea of what to expect. As I write this post from Loveland, CO on September 19, 2023, I hear the trees have shifted considerably in the past couple of days. I don’t have a report for Oxbow, but trees around Lost Creek Ranch and along the Gros Ventre are changing.   This photo was taken in Colorado yesterday around the edges of RMNP. You can see that trees are just beginning to change here, too.

Remember, the old Best of the Tetons is about to shut down, and all of the information will be gone. I created a new section for Best of the Tetons on my new site and cherry picked a large portion of my favorite and most read posts to include there. You can follow me there by subscribing using the button above.
